Booking It for a Birthday

Birthdays split into two versions of this booking, and they need different handling.

In the first, the two of you are going together and the birthday is the excuse. That is straightforward. Pick a date, pick a length, call. The only thing to get right is letting the birthday person choose their own session. It is their day, so they pick the modality and the pressure, and if they want something gentle while you want something firm, that is exactly what the suite already supports.

The second version is harder. You are arranging it for somebody else and you want it to land as a surprise. The obstacle is not the spa, it is the calendar. A couples booking needs two therapists free at one hour, and you are trying to reserve that hour without letting on. Which means you either need reliable access to their schedule, or you need to accept that a partial surprise is the better plan.

The partial surprise works well. Tell them to keep an evening clear and to wear something comfortable. That is enough information to get the logistics right and not enough to give away what it is. Two hours blocked out, comfortable clothes, no plans afterward.

The full surprise, with no warning at all, is the one to think twice about. Somebody who has never had a massage does not necessarily want their first one sprung on them, and an hour of being undressed and worked on is not a neutral thing to hand a person without notice. Read the person, not the occasion.
