Practical notes on booking the couples suite around a fixed date, including how far ahead to call and how to build the rest of the evening.

An anniversary has one property that changes how you book. The date is fixed. You cannot slide it to the following Tuesday because that is when two therapists happened to be free.
So book early. Two weeks out is comfortable. A week is usually fine. The day before is a gamble, and the gamble gets worse if the date falls on a Friday or a Saturday, which anniversaries have an irritating tendency to do. February and the stretch around Valentine's Day are the tightest weeks of the year for a room with two tables in it.
If the actual date is impossible, take the weekend on either side rather than forcing it. Nobody in the history of anniversaries has been disappointed by a good evening on the twelfth instead of the fourteenth.
On length, ninety minutes is the natural fit here. Sixty works and nobody will feel short-changed, but an anniversary is usually the one occasion where the point is the unhurried version, and the extra half hour is what unhurried actually means in practice. That puts the booking at $245.
For the order of operations, put the massage before dinner rather than after. Lying face-down on a full stomach is unpleasant, and the version where you finish the session and then walk into a restaurant already loose and quiet is a much better evening than the reverse. The spa is on State Street, so the downtown restaurants are a short drive from the door.
A small upgrade worth considering, since anniversaries are the occasion people are willing to spend a little more on. Hot stones or cupping run twenty dollars each, and either can go on one person's session without going on the other's. If one of you has been carrying a bad neck for a month, that is where the twenty dollars belongs.
On surprises, use judgment about the person rather than the occasion. Some partners love walking into something already arranged. Others need to know they are not being handed an unexpected hour of being undressed in a room with a stranger, however nice the room is. If there is any doubt, tell them the day before. It is still a gift, it just arrives with twelve hours of anticipation attached.
One honest note to close on. A massage is not a substitute for the conversation, and no evening carries the weight of a year on its own. What the suite actually gives you is an hour where neither of you can be reached, doing something restorative, in the same room. That is a good thing to hand each other. It does not need to be more than that.
A scheduling note that only bites on a fixed date. The last starts of the day sit late here, because the doors stay unlocked until ten at night on every night of the year. If the anniversary lands midweek and neither of you can get away from work early, an eight o'clock booking is an ordinary request rather than a favor you have to negotiate.
Call (801) 839-8880 and name the date first, then work backward on the time.
